Laura J. DeBell (formerly Laura Dion)

holds a Professional Certificate in Fire Protection from the University of California, San Diego. She has been in the fire protection industry since 1990, and was employed with a national fire protection engineering firm 1991-2006. She has been involved in the development of the Model codes since 1996, including involvement in the drafting and ongoing development process of the International Building and Fire Codes, and previously, the Uniform Building and Fire Codes. She has been a member of the NFPA Hazardous Chemicals Committee; NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, Business and Mercantile Occupancies; and NFPA 30B, Aerosol Products.

Richard A. DeBell

has been in the fire protection industry since 1994, primarily in design and management roles for fire sprinkler contracting firms. More recently he directed an office of a national Fire Protection Engineering firm, and provided both sprinkler design and code consulting services to customers. He has had involvement in the sprinkler design of a wide array of facilities including high rise buildings, military bases, hospitals, and storage facilities with in-rack sprinkler systems, as well as providing municipal plan review services for a number of southern California jurisdictions.
